Alice Peterson is the Founder and President of Syrus Global.

As chair of a public company audit committee during a period when corporate financial scandals filled the headlines of every major newspaper, Ms. Peterson led an exhaustive search for resources to support transparency and ethical decision-making. Unsatisfied with the choices for quality solutions, in 2002, she launched Listen Up™ ethics reporting and helpline services, establishing best practices for a new kind of whistleblower hotline system, and forming what is today Syrus Global.

Ms. Peterson has held senior operating, strategy and finance roles at Sears, Kraft and PepsiCo. She led the corporate finance department at the PepsiCo headquarters in Purchase, New York in the mid-1980’s. She played a key role in the Kraft-Philip Morris integration in 1988 when she was an Assistant Treasurer at Kraft.

Ms. Peterson joined Sears in 1989, and took on leadership positions in the strategic repositioning of the company, including the IPO and subsequent spinoff of Dean Witter Discover and Allstate. She was the Vice President and Treasurer of Sears, Roebuck and Co. from 1993 until 1998. She was tapped to start and run Sears Online in 1998, where her team took e-commerce revenues from virtually zero to $500 million in 18 months.

Ms. Peterson has served as a director on public company boards since 1996, including the boards of 360 Communications, Fleming Companies, Hanesbrands, and Williams Partners. She has chaired audit committees and held positions on compensation, finance and conflicts committees of publicly held corporations. She has also served on a variety of not-for-profit boards over the past twenty years.

Ms. Peterson has studied and exercised best practices in corporate governance for many years, and currently serves on the board of the National Association of Corporate Directors-Chicago Chapter. She writes and speaks frequently on governance topics. Ms. Peterson is also a member of the board of directors of the Institute for Business & Professional Ethics at DePaul University.

She is an organizing committee member for the Chicago Regional Business Ethics Network, a group dedicated to improving the skills and knowledge of ethics and compliance professionals in the greater Chicago region.

She holds an M.B.A. from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, and a B.A. from the University of Louisville.
